Mark of Steel

Welcome to Mark of Steel
Thank you for visiting the online gallery and contact page for Scottsdale artist Mark Harbin.

For over a decade Mark has created steel art for family, friends, colleagues, fundraisers, silent auctions, and charities.

Mark's creations include wall sculptures, yard-art, sconces, tables, and garden pieces.

An article on his work in the Arizona Republic newspaper in 2005 led to Mark being featured on the Home and Garden TV (HGTV) show "Look What I Did!" in 2006. Each featured his decorative garden fence crafted from recycled construction rebar.

Mark's steel and stained glass scorpions were the centerpieces at the Desert Botanical Garden's fundraiser "Dinner on the Desert" in 2000. For their "Art in Bloom" events Mark contributed large sculptures for silent auction and displayed various creations along with other regional artists.
I like to dream up designs, doodle them, then burn 'em out of steel!

Materials I've worked with:
Recycled scrap steel, rebar, steel rod, plate steel, river rock, flagstone, and stained glass.

Tools I've used:
Plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene torch welder/cutter, wire-feed welder, grinders, hammers, railroad spikes...

In real life I am an environmental consultant but my part-time passion is steel art!

Please tour my site and view my creations. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them.
